My baby boy is 5 weeks old today and full of smiles. Every time I look at him I’m reminded of life’s miracles and blessings. I can’t imagine my world without this little guy!!!

If you’ve been giving your all to running but feel more exhausted than stronger, you might be experiencing the often overlooked effects of overtraining. It can be really hard to determine at what point we are pushing into overtraining because each individual is going to have a unique set of circumstances that impact them. Our thresholds for what we are able to handle can vary depending on what season of life we are in as well. If you are experiencing any of the signs below, know that your awareness of it is step one – it is not too late to take a step back and listen to your body, especially before the warning signs turn into bigger issues.

Overtraining in running creeps up gradually and it’s not just feeling tired after a hard workout; it’s when your body stops adapting and starts breaking down.

We’ve all scrolled through social media and seen chatter about heart rate training or new gadgets and trackers and wondered what’s the real deal about all of this? How accurate is heart rate training? Why is low heart rate the hot topic on some influencers’ stories? Are the heart rate tracker tools really worth it?

TLDR… going off heart rate alone isn’t going to bring you the most success. There are a few reasons why.

If you live somewhere flat, it can be hard to figure out just how to train for a race that may have a more rolling or hilly elevation map. It can require getting a bit creative, but don’t let this stop you from signing up from that race you are wanting to do!

The key is simulating hills with a focus on strength, power, and climbing-specific endurance, even if the elevation isn’t adding up quickly. Having access to a treadmill may set you up for success in tackling progressive climbs in runs, but if you live near bridges or parking decks, just enough of these in the mix should help you feel confident that you can be prepared for race day, physically and mentally.

Our Pace of Me Coaches have collectively run all of the 7 majors. Shoutout to Coach Maddie who recently received her Six Star Medal at the 2026 Tokyo Marathon! Our expertise on the application processes and our experiences on the courses help us prepare our athletes for these race experiences and travel logistics that go into it. The Boston Marathon 💛💙 is 1 Month Away!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 19th to come shake it out before the big day with Pace of Me Coaching. All are welcome! Not running the race on Monday? We’d still love for you to join us!! Bring your support crew!

We will start our run at 8:30 AM from Tatte Bakery & Cafe ☕️ on Boylston Street. *Make sure you plug in the correct address as there are a few Tatte’s in the vicinity* We’ll head out to the Charles River Esplanade for a ~30 minute shakeout run 👟 filled with lots of fun, photos 📸 , and maybe some strides ✨! We’ll be sticking around for some coffee and treats and conversations 🩵

Pace of Me Coaching is thrilled to welcome Meghann Featherstun of Featherstone Nutrition this Wednesday for a one-hour conversation on how smart, intentional fueling can elevate our running performance! Athletes and coaches will be able to walk away from our call with clear, actionable guidance from one of the absolute best in the industry. Supporting our miles from the inside out, these moments to hear from professionals are invaluable as we grow and learn as runners.

This will be our first Nutrition Workshop in our series with Meghann. Over the next few months we will hear from her again as we move through our training and focus on important aspects such as fueling and hydrating for our long runs, carb loading for race day, and nailing that race day nutrition.
