Custom Training Plans

Pace of Me Custom Training Plans are a great option for runners who do not require regular communication, adjustments or feedback from a coach and who are very self-sufficient and intrinsically motivated. Custom training plans are just that – PLANS that take your life, running goals and history into consideration, however they are not direct 1:1 coaching. They are static roadmaps created with expertise, thought and consideration, but they are not meant to grow and change with you in real time the way 1:1 coaching does.

How it works:

Our Custom Training Plans are completely personalized to the athlete. After selecting and purchasing your plan, we will email you a detailed questionnaire to complete which will capture everything we need to create a plan for you including information about your experience, schedule, goals, injury history and more. At this point, if you have a preference you can select the coach you would like to write your plan for you. Once we have this back from you, we get to work! Your coach will reach out to you within 24 hours of receiving your questionnaire to introduce herself. She will send you an invitation to the training platform we use, V.02, and will upload your completed plan there within 5 days. She will also send you a PDF Coaching Resource Guide with all the information you will need to get started and follow your plan, including a pre run warm up, guidelines on nutrition, tips for recovery, etc. Before you begin, you and your coach will schedule a call to go over everything together!

FAQs:

Can I choose my coach? How do you match me up with a coach?

You will have an opportunity to let us know if you have a coach preference when you fill out the questionnaire after purchase. We will absolutely honor those requests! If you do not have a strong feeling about which coach is best for you,  we will determine the best fit for you based on your experience, goals, season of life and more! 

Can I get a refund if I don’t hit my goal?

Results are not guaranteed and we do not offer refunds.

What if I want to switch to 1:1 Coaching, but I’ve already paid for a custom training plan?

This is no problem at all! Contact your coach and she will walk you through the process of getting set up for 1:1 Coaching! Since you will already have a relationship with your coach this will be a smooth transition.

Can I purchase a custom training plan as a gift for someone?

Sure! After you make the purchase, we will send you an email with the questionnaire and you can let us know at that time who we should be sending it to! We will take it from there!

What if I get injured? 

A custom training plan, while better than a standard canned plan or one generated by AI, it is still a map. When you purchase a plan, you will still need to listen to your body and adjust as you go. If you are injured, we always recommend you see a PT who works with runners to help you assess the severity of the injury and whether or not it is safe to continue to run. They should be able to help you in the short term manage the injury and adjust your training appropriately. You are more than welcome to pay to schedule a call with your coach at any time.

What if I get sick?

If you get sick and your symptoms include a fever (elevated temperature, body aches and chills), have a cough/chest congestion or stomach pain it will be best for you to rest until the symptoms are gone for at least 24 hours. If our symptoms are mild and generally above the neck, like a head cold or sneezing, you are probably safe to run at a lower volume or intensity for a few days. If you need to take a significant amount of time off from training due to illness (a week or more) you will need to modify the training plan and adjust your goals. In that case we would recommend contacting us and scheduling a call so we can discuss your options and help you move forward!

 

What if my goal changes? (goal race, time goal, distance planned, etc)

Goals change all the time for a variety of reasons. If your time goal is what has changed, you can adjust your paces in V.02 to support that. If you decide to go up or down in distance, we would recommend contacting us for help revising your plan. If you have changed the date of your race but are running the same distance, you will be able to move runs and workouts around in your calendar so they work for the new date.

Can I still cross train and attend classes like Peloton, boot camp, yoga, Pilates, etc? 

That depends on so many factors, including what your goal race distance is, what your experience is, and other considerations. This is definitely something you should plan to discuss in your kick-off call with your coach. We strive to optimize your training so you can recover well enough to reach your goals and sometimes these classes can be extraneous and sometimes they can supplement your training well.

Can I still run with my club/friends?

Of course! If you let us know which day(s) of the week and what distance your run club usually runs or that you like to plan runs with friends, we will do our best to build that into your training plan as easy effort miles. Social runs/runs with friends are a wonderful part of many athletes’ weeks and we will make it a priority to incorporate them in a way that also supports your training and goals, if that is important to you.

How long does it take to get my plan?

We will provide your plan to you in 5 days or less via V.02.

Can I incorporate my travel/vacation into my plan? 

Yes, absolutely! We will structure your training to accommodate your travel plans and vacation schedule as long as you let us know ahead of time in the questionnaire.

What do I do if I add races to my schedule before my goal race? How do I adjust my training if I am racing on a weekend, instead of doing the planned long run?

We love when our athletes work these “training races” into their schedules. They help with so many things- pacing, race day logistics, fueling practice, mental strategies, and many more. Please include these races and dates on your questionnaire when you submit it and we will create the plan with these incorporated as well as plan your long runs with these in mind.

I’m not a fast runner, is your plan right for me?

Yes, absolutely!!! We will customize your plan to YOU and your goals and needs and this has nothing to do with how long it takes you to go from point A to point B. All paces benefit from a customized plan.

Do you work with ultra runners?

Absolutely! Our custom training plans are best suited for distances up to the 50k, however a few of the Pace of Me coaches have extensive experience working with athletes who run ultras up to 100 miles and even multi-day/stage ultras. If you are interested in a plan that goes beyond 20 weeks please reach out to us and we will discuss how to best support you! 

Do you create custom triathlon plans?

Not exactly! We are more than happy to help you with your running-specific training (and structure the training to support your swims and rides) as that is our area of expertise, however if you are looking for programming for all three sports, we recommend working with a coach who specializes in that.

How do I receive my training plan?

Your coach will load all of your training into V.02,  the online training platform used by all Pace of Me Coaches. You can access your calendar from your computer or by downloading the V.02 app to track your training while on the go! The software will sync up with your GPS watch and/or Strava so you will have all your training data in one convenient place. We recommend using V.02 as a training diary and recording things like what shoes you wore, your fueling, the weather, how you felt, etc.
